In 2006, the musical won four Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Actor. The hit songs of the Four Seasons were used to highlight the dramatic rise of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. On the day it opened, Jersey Boys earned $400,000 at the August Wilson Theater, where mostly middle-aged people were so involved that they forgot everything about themselves for a while. The show toured nationally for the first time at the end of December 2006, performing at a theatre in San Francisco and then later at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. It premiered in Chicago in October 2007 and the tour continues to this day.
Jersey Boys also made it to the Royal gates, debuting at London's Edward Theatre in February 2008. The show was organized by the same team that presented the musical on Broadway. Ryan Molloy, Stephen Ashfield, Glenn Carter and Philip Bulcock starred as the fascinating foursome. The show was a hit, with some media news pointing out that the musical even put The Beatles behind at times with their appeal. Plus, the audience members were gripped by the attractive notes of the songs.
In May 2009, Jersey Boys opened in Las Vegas at The Palazzo Hotel in a special theatre, winning acclaim from newspapers all over. Rhino Entertainment made an original recording of the musical, titled Jersey Boys: Original Broadway Cast Recording, which has since sold more than 500,000 copies in the US.
Your favorite musical, Jersey Boys, is once again on tour in 2017, making stops in numerous cities across North America and Canada. Among the venues where it is scheduled to be staged are the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, The Adrienne Arsht Center in Miami, and the Kansas City Starlight Theatre in Kansas City. The musical charts the journey of the rock ‘n’ roll band the Four Seasons, featuring their classic hits such as ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ and ‘Big Girls Don’t Cry.’ Don’t miss watching it live in your city.
