When Pakistan and India were the combined hosts of 1987 World Cup, fans saw the emergence of another cricket giant in the form of Australia, as the years that followed proved.

1992 World Cup victory favored Pakistan which resulted in another subcontinent hosted world cup of 1996. By this time, cricket was a whole new ball game. Colored uniforms increased the charm of the game. This time, luck favored Sri Lanka as they emerged as the 1996 World Champs by beating Australia in the finals. The years that followed saw an Australian monopoly as it wreak havocs on their opponents in every variation of the game which continues to date.
