Discounted Theater Opera Tickets
The legendary tale of betrayal, jealousy, and passion lives on in a more spectacular setting. Theater Opera tickets are hot property on the tickets market, and it is due to the mesmerizing running productions of Phantom of the Opera. The musical is a certified masterpiece, having established itself as Broadway's longest-running show. The musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber has been running since 1986 and is based on French novelist Gaston Leroux's work Le Fantome de l'Opera. Published in 1910 in the French daily "Le Gaulois", its early failure is in contrast to its current popularity, and it even went out of print a few times.
In the start, Paris Opera House's prima donna Carlotta's performance is disrupted by a sudden backdrop collapse caused by the mysterious Phantom. Flustered, she stalks off only to be replaced by the amateur Christine, whose voice is surprisingly beautiful. Backstage, Christine is overjoyed at her appointment and credits her mysterious "Angel of Music". The new patron Raoul laughs it off, but when she is alone, the Angel reveals himself as the Phantom, and takes her to his subterranean lair. A terrified Christine rips off his mask to reveal a horrible mangled face. The Phantom confesses to wanting to look normal and win her love. Back in the Opera, the owners persist with Carlotta in a new opera contrary to the Phantom's demands of using Christine, and an enraged Phantom wreaks havoc. Christine escapes to take Raoul to the roof and reveals about her journey, making him swear his love and protection of her. The eavesdropping Phantom is heartbroken, and swears revenge. Months later, he appears to demand Christine (now engaged to Raoul) lead his self-written opera Don Juan Triumphant. Raoul decides to trap him during the performance, but the Phantom kills the leading tenor midway and flees with Christine as captive after she tears off his mask publicly to expose the horror beneath. With a bloodthirsty mob in pursuit and Christine's golden heart torn between pity for the Phantom and love for Raoul, the play reaches its climax.
English composer Andrew Lloyd Webber, often considered the most commercially successful composer ever, is the mastermind behind Phantom of the Opera's haunting score. He has three Grammys and an Oscar to his name apart from theater awards. Charles Hart and Richard Stilgroe penned lyrics, while all three wrote the book. Lancaster's Duke Playhouse hosted the musical's first adaptation in 1976.
Ken Hill's original production was a success, but Webber's artistic wizardry has made it an unmitigated success. The worldwide $5.1 billion-grossing musical is history's most successful entertainment venture. It received 7 Tony and 7 Drama Desk Awards in 1988, with Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman's lead roles winning universal acclaim.
Theater Opera tickets showcase the best of Phantom of the Opera's current productions in Broadway, West End, and Las Vegas (the Las Vegas Spectacular). The musical's aura only seems to get stronger with time. Fans will be queuing up for Theater Opera tickets to experience the magic.
