About Frozen the Musical
The show is set in the wintry, Norway-inspired kingdom of Arendelle. Frozen takes its stage cues from both the film and the minds of its own creative team, with Michael Grandage at the helm, Rob Ashford on choreography, Christopher Oram working on scenic and costume designs, and two-time Tony Award winner Stephen Oremus as the music supervisor, supported by Dave Metzger on orchestrations and Chris Montan as the music consultant. The writers are the same as the film, with music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Kristen Lopez, who also wrote songs for the movie. The storyline is based on the book written by Jennifer Lee, who also co-directed the film. The Broadway musical will be a full-length stage work told in two acts, and like other Disney theatricals before, it will be a full evening of theater, expected to run for two and a half hours.
About Frozen the Movie
Inspired by the fairytale by Hans Christian Anderson, "Frozen" revolves around the lives of Princess Elsa, who has the ability to generate ice, and her lovingly forgiving sister, Anna. The film was released in 2013 and became an instant hit, featuring the voices of Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell and grossing $400 million in the US and almost $1.3 billion worldwide. In addition to its financial success, the movie also won Academy Awards for Best Animated Film and Best Original Song. The song "Let It Go" has become a favorite for children all across the world. Frozen merchandise has also generated a huge amount of revenue since the film's release.
The Storyline of Frozen
The storyline follows sisters Elsa and Anna, who live with their parents in a grand castle. Elsa, who possesses cryokinetic magic, accidentally injures her own sister. Following this, their parents separate them in different parts of the castle and Elsa begins to suppress her magic, instead of mastering it. After the death of their parents at sea, Elsa becomes the queen of Arendelle. She still fears that the people of Arendelle will find out about her magical powers. In another incident involving Anna, Elsa accidentally shows her powers to the world, causing her to be labeled a monster. Distraught, she leaves the castle and goes to a faraway land, where she builds an ice castle and begins to live in solitude.
Soon, Anna sets out to find her and tells her of what has become of the kingdom. In the fateful events that follow, Elsa ends up freezing Anna's heart and is taken back to the kingdom for execution.
