CMA Awards have been taking place for almost five decades now and certainly have earned a respectable status in terms of country awards over the past years. The show pattern has remained more or less the same over the past few years. There are twelve categories of the awards such as Entertainer of the Year, New Artist, Vocal Duo, Vocal Group, Musical Event, Song of the Year, Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Musician and Video of the Year. Apart from these there are also nine other awards which are presented to National personality of the Year and radio presenters of channels that have been named Station of the Year. For three decades the CMA Awards were held at the Grand Ole Pry House in Nashville till 2004. In 2005 the ceremony took place at the huge Madison Square Garden but since then the event is being held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville Tennessee.

In 1967 first ever awards were held at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium but this event was not televised. This first year famous country artist Eddy Arnold was given The Artists of the Year Award, Song of The Year Award went to "There Goes My Everything" this song was also awarded Single of the Year and Album of the Year Award, Male Vocalist of the year was Jack Greene, Female Vocalist of the Year was won by the legendary Loretta Lynn. The latest awards till date were held in the year 2010 at the Bridgestone Arena. At this event Braid paisley was given Entertainer of the Year Award, Miranda Lambert won three awards namely Album of the Year, Music Video of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year. Lady Antebellum won Vocal Group of the Year and Single of the Year. Blake Shelton won the Male Vocalist of the Year whereas Mac McAnally was named Musician of the Year.

Some artists have registered multiple CMA Award wins like Kenney Chesney and Garth Brooks have won Entertainer of the Year Award four times each. Reba McEntire has won the most Female Vocalist of the Year Award followed by Carrie Underwood who has won it three times. Vince Gail and George Strait both have won Male Vocalist of the Year Award five times. Vince Gail also holds the unique record of being the host of CMA Awards continuously for twelve years. Some of the artists that have been inducted in the famous Country Music Hall of Fame are Red Foley, Gene Autry, Bill Monroe, Jimmie Davis, Pee Wee King, Paul Cohen, Kitty Wells, Sons of the Prisoners, Johnny Cash, Roy Horton, Lefty Frizzell and Little Jimmy Dickens.

CMA Awards 2019 Performance
