The new millennium, with its attractive chastising aura, gave ballet a proclivity for bringing more for the audience than meets the eye. The New York Theatre Ballet brings both old and new to the stage for its wide variety of attendees. It is not only the old and mature people that makeup the audience. The young are just as attracted to this ballet which makes it stand out from the rest. Neither are the prices through the roof nor are the performances mundane or boring. The small contemporary works along with the classic performances are etched to perfection in three different practicing locations namely, the LIFE Community Service, The Professional Company Class and its very own New York Ballet School. The aim of the performances is to enhance the audiences of ballet even further. The managers at the company wish to reel in families and couples who have never been to a ballet before. The experience is made so beautiful that anyone with a love for dance and music will surely fall in love with the concept of ballet.
It all started in the mid seventies when an unsuspecting Diana Byer got hit by a stroke of luck. This local ballerina was given a project to put together a ballet for a school so as to bring the talent out of young girls and boys, who do not know such an art form exists. The very first performance took Diana a complete three months to prepare. The props, costumes, stage backgrounds and performers all needed money. Some of this money came from donations and some came from her family, but she managed to pull off an exquisite show. Numerous people turned up and other schools got the whiff of this genius idea.
Parents begged her to begin her own school and coordinators from various schools wished they had thought of it sooner. Diana Byer finally recognized the gold egg she was sitting on and founded The New York Theatre Ballet in the fall of 1978. From the day it was inaugurated, there has been little competition in the genre of chamber ballet. The New York Times, no less, had titled the company "indispensable" in less than five years of its existence. It should be no doubt then that it is by far the most widely attended ballet companies in the world. It had revived many old masterpieces and brought a new twist to vintage story lines and mundane music. The New York Theatre Ballet company has surely carved a niche for itself.
The New York Theatre Ballet enjoys the wide array of audiences which it has gathered all across the country. People now know that this ballet has a penchant of touching the very hearts of old and young audiences both. There is little doubt left in the performance characteristic of the company since its choreographers are some of the best in the business. With premium quality productions and startling articulateness, the audiences feel like the theme of every ballet is centered on them. Every individual feels special while in attendance of the New York Theatre Ballet.
The New York Theatre Ballet is now in its thirty fourth year. Whether it's a family show or one for adults, whether the elderly are in attendance or the young romantics, this ballet is a treat. With the likes of Ashton Frederick and Agnes De Mille dancing on stage, the crowd can only expect to be blown away. Jose' Limon along with Tony Tudor fetch more aplomb and style for the stage as they bring it to life with their alluring performances. The venues are just as close to the heart as the company's performances. Places like Kaatsbaan and Jacob's Pillow come along with their vibrant and inspiring history too.
A well known work of significance in ballet is The Nutcracker. When the New York Theatre Ballet was handed Tchaikovsky's project which had such historical importance, the managers of the company got right to it and did what it did best, make the Nutcracker better than Marius Petipa's original masterpiece. The great Tchaikovsky impresses audiences even after a century and two decades since his birth. US audiences flocked to the Nutcracker since the late sixties, but what the New York Theatre Ballet has done is to give it a wider and more prudent audience than ever before. This is a great time for you to get your New York Theatre Ballet The Nutcracker tickets and experience a world class ballet performance.
