Misery Tickets

Misery Tickets

Broadway is going to have another year full of thrill, drama and 'misery'- thanks to the playwright William Goldman. The suspense drama “Misery” is soon to grace Broadway and features a two-star cast, revolving around a celebrity-fan relationship that’s not as pleasant as it might seem at first. Featuring Hollywood fixture Bruce Willis in the lead role, the play was originally supposed to star Elizabeth Marvel as Willis' co-star. Recent announcements reveal that the veteran stage actress had commitments with the Netflix hit “House of Cards” which has led to her being replaced by three-time Emmy Award winner Laurie Metcalf. As Bruce Willis makes his Broadway debut in a stage adaptation of the novel and movie “Misery”, his fans all over can't wait for the Misery tickets to hit the market.

To Broadway, From Hollywood

The soon-to-be staged drama adds weight to the trending Broadway crash-landings straight from Hollywood. Willis is the fourth celebrity in line, following Clive Owens headlining “Old Times”, Keira Knightley as the leading lady in “Thérèse Raquin” and Al Pacino's “China Doll”. The strictly 16-week run at the prestigious locale will start previews on October 22, 2015 at the famous Broadhurst Theatre. Currently hosting the musical smash hit “Mamma Mia!”, the theatre will be free for another spectacle on Labor Day in September. “Misery” is slated for an opening performance on November 17, 2015 and the Misery tickets will be available soon. The story is based on a famous novel by none other than Stephen King and was first adapted into a film in 1990. King probably doesn't have a fan as big as William Goldman. It was him who wrote the screenplay for the 1990 Oscar winning movie. Who else could be more interested in taking it to the stage?

“Number One Fan”

Paul Sheldon, a famous romance novelist miraculously survives an almost-fatal car accident. Rescued and saved by Annie Wilkes, Sheldon recuperates from his injuries at Wilkes' strange house. Sheldon's self-proclaimed “Number One Fan”, the daunting Wilkes would now do anything to be with her favorite author of all time- even if it means keeping him hostage. After going through his drafts, Wilkes discovers the writer has killed off her favorite character from an upcoming novel. As the psychotic Wilkes forces Sheldon to come up with another “Misery” novel, the writer discovers he's still got to plot his best story: how to rescue himself.

Star Cast

The Golden Globe and twice Emmy-Award winning Bruce Willis needs no introduction. The legendary artist has made waves in the film industry with some of the most epic performances that run the gamut from being a clever detective to a heroic prizefighter and a courageous time traveler. The Hollywood icon will be supported by none other than Laurie Metcalf, the twice Emmy-Award nominee who's an original member of the Steppenwolf Theatre on Broadway Avenue. Fresh off Bruce Norris' “Domesticated”, the actress has landed in another New York production, thanks to “Misery”. She is known for her frequent mini-screen appearances in “Roseanne” and Star World's “The Big Bang Theory”. Capture the duo's striking onstage performance in a never-before-seen celeb-fan relationship.

A Killer Thriller!

“Misery”, an edge-of-your-seat thriller drama, would keep you glued to the killer suspense until you see the end. Created by the two-time Academy Award winner playwright William Goldman, the play will leave you gaping at the complex storyline that makes the unthinkable become real. The drama is directed by Will Fears, who has a number of Broadway and Off-Broadway productions to his credits. Head out to the Broadhurst Theatre as soon as “Misery” hits the venue because you won't be able to see anything near to this one-of-a-kind show that will completely change the way you think.
