Date & Time

Over three hundred years ago, popular French writer Charles Perrault decided to write down a series of classic folk tales for generations to come. One of those was the story of Cinderella, a poor orphan who has to live her life with her evil stepmother and stepsisters, until fate led her to marrying a handsome prince. The story was adopted as a special on television by the famous duo Rodgers and Hammerstein, whose unique take on the tale was later adapted into a Broadway production in 2013. Now that this amazing musical is being taken all over the country, here is your chance to watch it for yourself. Just book your Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella tickets and enjoy the show, live.

The stage has been a source of inspiration for some of the greatest stories ever told in film and television. Every few years, you will find another big screen adaptation of a famous play or musical, as Hollywood tries to emulate the same kind of emotions and performances that you get during a stage show. Yet, over the years, there have been instances where this relationship has been turned the other way around. Where, a story from a television show or a movie was adapted for a stage production instead. One of the best examples of such a story is that of Cinderella, which was originally a book that was adapted for a television show and which in turn was adapted into a Broadway production.

Into the pumpkin carriage

Cinderella is an old folk tale that was written down by French writer Charles Perrault over three hundred years ago. It gained cult status all around the world and was eventually brought to television by the incredible duo of Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II. It made its debut over fifty years ago, and was first adapted for the Broadway stage in 2013. Currently the production is touring all over the country, just to give fans some more time to catch this wonderful story on stage one last time. If you want to experience all the magic as well, then get your Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella tickets and enjoy the show, live.

The slippers come off

The story of Cinderella is an old one and most people have grown up either having heard it, or having seen one version or the other adapted for television and film. The story follows the life of a young Cinderella whose father has passed away, and she is forced to live with her evil stepmother and stepsisters. They force her to become their servant, making her do all the chores around the house and not letting her have any freedom of choice whatsoever.

One day, their King and Queen make an announcement that a ball will be held in honor of their son, the Prince, and that they would be looking for a suitable bride for him. Even though Cinderella is forbidden from going to the ball, she does so anyways with the help of her fairy godmother. In the end, she and the Prince fall in love and live happily ever after.

The 2013 Broadway production followed the same premise, however with a few minor additions to the storyline. In it the king and queen have died, leaving their son and kingdom in the rule of a dirty Prime minister. This version also depicts one of the stepsisters as a meek and soft hearted soul, who eventually helps Cinderella in her pursuits. It proved to be a very popular take on this classic tale and it ran for over seven hundred and fifty shows. The production was also nominated for several prestigious awards, winning three Drama Desk Awards, an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Tony Award.

Happy ever after

Cinderella was originally created by Richard Rogers and Oscar Hammerstein II, who together were considered the greatest musical theater writing team of all time. Rogers was a composer who had been involved in the business ever since he was seventeen years old. He went on to make over nine hundred songs for over forty Broadway musicals over the years. His partner, Hammerstein was a lyricist and a playwright, who was involved in writing over eight hundred songs and created some of the most popular productions in history, including the ‘Sound of Music’ and the ‘King and I.’ Together their stories managed to win a total of fifteen Academy Awards, two Grammy Awards, a Pulitzer Prize and a whopping thirty four Tony Awards.

After a very successful run on Broadway, it is finally time for the fans of Cinderella around the country to get a taste of the show as well. This is why the production is going on a tour of the US and if you want, you can catch a glimpse of the musical too. Just get your Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella tickets and enjoy this majestic production, live.
