Norma
Norma is the result of the creative genius of Vincenzo Bellini and Felice Romani. It was first performed in 1831 at Milan’s La Scala where it gave 34 performances in its first season. The opera was loved by the world and became a leading example of the bel canto genre. Over the years, many stars have featured in the main role of the opera including, Joan Sutherland, Maria Callas, Montserrat Caballé and Cecilia Bartoli.

Carmen
Based on the Prosper Mérimée of the same name, Carmen is an opera which is composed by Georges Bizet while Ludovic Halévy and Henri Meilhac are the authors of its libretto. The opera premiered at Paris’s Opéra-Comique in 1875 and since then has been revived many times. In the late 80s, Carmen was staged for the first time in New York and received mixed response from the critics. Today, the opera enjoys worldwide success.

Eugene Onegin
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky composed music for many successful operas throughout his life including, Eugene Onegin. It is based on the novel of the same name written by Alexander Pushkin. The opera was first seen in Moscow’s Maly Theatre in 1879 and was later staged in Prague, Hamburg, London, Vienna and New York City.

My Fair Lady
