About Cleveland Indians

The team which is presently owned by Larry Dolan, managed by Manny Acta, with Chris Antonetti as the general manager, is one of the oldest baseball franchises. The Indians were established in 1894, but they were a minor league baseball team then and were called ‘Grand Rapids Rustlers’. The Rustlers became ‘Cleveland Lake Shores’ in 1900. However, in 1901, they became a major league baseball team under the name, ‘Cleveland Bluebirds’. The name changed again the next year and became, ‘Cleveland Bronchos’. In 1903, the Bronchos became ‘Cleveland Naps’, who in turn became ‘Molly MaGuires’ in 1912. The team acquired its present name in 1915.
As mentioned above, Cleveland Indians has won two World Series Championships in 1920 and 1948. The 1920 was just great for the team and thanks to the efforts of Stan Coveleski, Steve O’Neill and Jim Bagby, the Indians won their first World Series Championship. They defeated the ‘Brooklyn Robins’ 5-2, winning four straight games after the Robins took an early lead of 2-1. They won their second title in 1948, when ‘Boston Braves’ were defeated by them 4-2. The second title came their way thanks to great efforts put by Gene Bearden, Larry Dobby, Joe Gordon and Lou Boudreau, who also won the American League MVP Award.  In addition, the Indians have also won their division titles in 2007, 2001, 1999, 1998, 1997, 1996 and 1995.
Cleveland Indians have been playing their home games at the ‘Progressive Field’ since 1994. The ballpark was also known as ‘Jacobs Field’. Previously, the team has played at the League Park also known as Dunn Field and the Cleveland Stadium, also called the Cleveland Municipal Stadium. The Indians colors are white, red and navy blue.
One of the most interesting facts about the team relates to their diehard fans. In 1995-2001, all of their home games were sold out which amounts to 455 games. This means that roughly well over 19,250,000 fans occupied each and every seat in the Progressive Field. Their fans were so eager to see their favorite team play that all the tickets were bought even before the Opening Day. This happened on at least three different times.
It is no wonder then that the team of baseball greats like, Ralph Kiner, Joe Gordon, Dick Williams, Frank Robinson and Sam Rice is having a great season this year too. So be a part of your favorite team and cheer them up by buying Cleveland Indians Tickets now!
