About The Harlem Globetrotters Trenton Tickets

Starting in the Windy City

Contrary to what most people believe, the Trotters were actually formed in Chicago in the 1920s. The team first started playing in the Savoy Ballroom in 1927. Most of the original lineup of the team was students of Wendell Phillips High School in the south side of Chicago. Since the team featured African-American players, it was named the ‘Harlem Globetrotters.’ Another reason for naming the team was that it added an element of mystery to the team that was still based in Chicago. It would be more than three decades before the Trotters would actually play in Harlem in 1968.

Winning the big prize

The Trotters regularly featured in the World Professional Basketball Tournament. However, the big moment came when the Trotters lifted the championship trophy in 1940. Over the years some of the biggest names in the game have played for the Trotters. The most famous of them all perhaps is the NBA Hall of Famer Wilt ‘The Stilt’ Chamberlain. The NBA may have diminished some of their star power, but the Trotters continue to amaze and entertain wherever they go.
