The race, which is set to take place in Daytona, was previously open to past winners and pole position winners from the latest season. However, now drivers from the Chase for the Cup and any past winner of the Daytona 500 pole will also be in the starting lineup. The new rules also allow twenty five drivers to take part in the race. This can only mean one thing; this race has the potential to be the most competitive race ever. Get cheap NASCAR tickets and watch the two events kick off at the Daytona Beach.

The Daytona International Speedway has great prominence in racing circles. It has been dubbed as the ‘World Center of Racing’. Daytona hosts the coveted Daytona 500 race, which has earned the unofficial nickname of "The Great American Race". It attracts the largest audiences in motorsport and the season opener will be a fitting event to watch at the enormous four hundred and eighty acre motorsport complex. The Speedway has also undergone a few changes and can now accommodate an additional forty thousand spectators.

The first race of the Sprint Unlimited was held in 1979 and it was known as the ‘Busch Clash’. The name stuck till 1997, after which it was known as the Bud Shootout till 2000. For the next twelve years the race was known as the Budweiser Shootout. Finally in 2013 the season opener race got the name of Sprint Unlimited.

Since the Sprint Unlimited is an exhibition race, there will be no championship points awarded to the drivers. Instead they will be motivated by the huge cash prize waiting for them across the finish line. This will encourage a more competitive racing style in which drivers go ‘all out’ for the win; something not seen in the regular races where drivers look to collect more points. The starting line will also not be determined by time trials, like in regular races. The fans will vote for the drivers and the starting line will be dependent on the votes obtained by each driver. The Sprint Unlimited will have seventy five laps.

The Lucas Oil 200 will take place at the tri-oval superspeedway and will feature eighty laps. The drivers will try to cover the two hundred mile distance, in the shortest amount of time. The cars reach up to average speeds of over one hundred and thirty miles an hour. The event is held each year in February and last year Grant Enfinger won the race. Enfinger, in his Ford, completed the eighty laps in a time of one hour and thirty two minutes. The Lucas Oil 200 is an ARCA event and it will conclude later in the year after twenty races.

The Sprint Unlimited will feature NASCAR’s youngest ever Cup Series race winner, Kyle Busch. Busch holds many records in the NASCAR competition and is a very popular driver. He set a record by registering twenty four wins across the top three NASCAR series, made the record for most Nationwide Series wins during a complete season and also holds the record for being the youngest driver to qualify for a chase in the Sprint Cup. Jimmie Johnson, Austin Dillon, Jeff Gordon and David Gilliland will all feature in the star studded race set to take place. Get NASCAR tickets and don’t miss out on the high speed action.
