About Adirondack Phantoms

The Adirondack Phantoms history can be traced all the way back to 1996 when they were incepted in Philadelphia. The Phantom hit the ground running and clinched the division and the regular season titles in their first season. The next season turned out to be an even more monumental one. They successfully defended both titles won the previous season and also added the conference championship as well as the prestigious Calder Cup to the mix on their way to a historic quadruple.
It was an incredibly successful start to life among the big boys. The Adirondack Phantoms or the “Philadelphia Phantoms” as they were known back then didn’t stop there and went on to add another conference title to their trophy cabinet. The team hit a bit of a rough patch after that which lasted for around five years. The Phantoms rose to prominence once again in 2004 by winning the division crown.
2005 saw them lift the conference title and their second Calder Cup. The success of that season saw a number of players being drafted into NHL teams which was a testament to the high levels of skill shown by the team during that successful AHL campaign. The Phantoms hit another lean patch after that and were forced to move from Philadelphia when their home the “Wachovia Spectrum” was closed.
They were bought by new management who moved the side to Glen Falls temporarily with a view to shift them to Lehigh Valley permanently starting the 2014-2015 season. The owners also changed the name of the team to the current Adirondack Phantoms following the move. The season of 2009-2010 was their first at Glen Falls. The Phantoms failed to make the kind of impact they had made during their early days of inception in Philadelphia and ended up capturing the seventh spot.
Their second season wasn’t any more successful and they once again managed to go only as high as a seventh place finish. The management and the coaching staff were however working as hard as ever to turn the team’s fortunes around. All that effort finally began to pay dividends in 2011-2012 season. The Phantoms put their first winning season on the board and clinched the third spot in Northeast.
The Adirondack Phantoms have once again started to show signs they are on their way to the top of the mountain once again. All they need now is a little bit of consistency and they will be back in the business at the top end of the table.
