The National Finals Rodeo or NFR is called the super bowl of rodeo for a reason. It offers what no other rodeo event in the world can match in terms of excitement, adrenaline rush and entertainment.  The event is organized and held by the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association or PRCA. The event was held to increase rodeo profile and take it to an even bigger fan base. There are a total of seven rodeo sports out which world champions of six sports, steer wrestling, bareback bronc riding, calf roping, team roping, saddle bronc riding, and bull riding are crowned at the NFR. The first edition of the National Finals Rodeo was held way back in 1959. The biggest fifteen money winners from all around the country in each category come square off to earn the right to be crowned the world champion in their respective event.
 
All six events have their own rules and the riders are judged as per pre-defined parameters. The talent and the skill on show at these events is nothing short of exceptional that gives the National Finals Rodeo a very special place in the hearts of millions of the sports fans. The city of Dallas played host to the competition from the first event till 1961. LA was then selected as the venue for the next three editions. After that Oklahoma won the right to host it followed by Las Vegas in 1984.  Since then it has been held at the Thomas & Mack Center, Las Vegas. An estimated one hundred and seventy thousand fans walk through the gates  every year to be a part of this one-off tournament over the course of its ten day duration.
 
The National Finals Rodeo all started as a small rodeo event geared towards promoting rodeo but the attention it has received due to everything it has to offer has turned it into an unbelievable spectacle.
