A Weekend with Pablo Picasso is a one man show which is performed and written by Herbert Siguenza. Directed by Todd Salovey, this incredible show features the most amazing artist of the twentieth century- Pablo Picasso. Picasso’s thoughts about ‘art as an agent of social change’, love, creativity and ambitions is communicated superbly to the audiences. The famed writer and actor, Siguenza doesn’t imitate Picasso, but he tries to create an image of the great Spanish artist. The show opens to the set that is designed as Picasso’s studio in 1957, where he is going to paint 3 vases and 6 canvases over the weekend- something that only the dedicated pacifist Picasso could do! The show makes you witness how the 76 year old self proclaimed genius painter fights all kinds of interruptions while he is engaged in his work. Complete personality of this beleaguered celebrity is excellently portrayed in the 80 minutes long show. Pablo Picasso’s work will keep him alive in the hearts of his fans forever. The demand for A Weekend with Pablo Picasso tickets has seen a continuous rise ever since this show premiered in 2011.

A Weekend with Pablo Picasso will provide you with a firsthand experience of Picasso’s mastery, his thoughts and proclamations about love and art. Most of the text in the show has been extracted from Picasso’s sayings and quotes and has been presented in a fresh way. His childhood stories to personal life, everything will be found in this short yet comprehensive performance which makes use of interactive painting videos. Siguenza has added humor to the show with some light dialogues and acts. Every scene takes the audience closer to the life of the legend Picasso.

Born in 1881 as Pablo Ruiz y Picasso in Spain, the great painter, ceramicist, printmaker and sculptor dedicated his whole life to art. One of the ‘Greatest and Most Influential artists of the 20th Century’, Picasso is known worldwide for his contributions towards a variety of art styles that he pioneered. During the early decades of the twentieth century, Picasso became known for the revolutionary developments in ceramics, painting and plastic arts along with Marcel Duchamp and Henri Matrisse. Since childhood, his extraordinary talent was exposed through his paintings and other work. Throughout his life, he kept experimenting with new styles and invented several theories related to art. His revolutionary accomplishments made him the ‘Best Known figure in 20th Century art’. Picasso spent several years of his life in France. The early nineties were called the blue period of his career most of his paintings during this time were in the shades of blue. It was followed by the Rose Period- which depicted a cheery style. It was preceded by the African-influenced period, Cubism, Classism and Surrealism. During the Second World War, he shifted his concentration towards writing, and wrote approximately 300 poems during the 1940s and 1950s. Most of them were titled as the date or place where the poem was written.

‘Art is a lie that makes us realize the truth’- is one of the most famous quotes by this exceptional artist. In April 1973, Picasso passed away, leaving behind all his masterpieces which inspire the upcoming artists even today.
