The Cher Show tickets have been the hottest commodity in town since the musical about the life and career of Cher was first announced. The Cher Show is currently running at the Oriental Theater Ford Center for the Performing Arts in Chicago, Illinois. It is expected to continue playing here till mid July 2018. Following that, the Broadway debut of the musical will take place at the Neil Simon Theater in New York in November 2018.
About The Cher Show
The Cher Show is all geared up to bring to life the story of the phenomenal music sensation, Cherilyn Sarkisian. The jukebox musical will highlight the six-decade long career of the unstoppable force that has dominated popular culture. The musical will have three different versions of Cher, played by three different women – the child starting out in the industry, the glamorous pop star and eventually, the icon.
The Cher Show features 35 smash hits by the Armenian-born American singer and actress. It will take the audience on a detailed journey that will cover six decades of Cher's life, with two husbands, an Emmy, a Grammy and an Oscar and lots and lots of sequins!
Cast and Crew of The Cher Show
Everyone is excited to find out who will be playing the role of the legendary singer. Cher will be played by three actresses; Stephanie J. Block, the two-time Tony Award nominee, known for her work in The Mystery of Edwin Drood and Falsettos; Teal Wicks, who is known for her work as Elphaba in multiple productions of the musical Wicked, and as Mary Barrie in the phenomenally successful musical, Finding Neverland; Micaela Diamond of NBC’s recent live Jesus Christ Superstar.
The cast of The Cher Show will also include the Tony nominee Michael Berresse, known for Kiss Me and Kate as Bob Mackie, Tony nominee Jarrod Spector, known for his work in Beautiful, will be seen playing the role of Sonny Bono and another Tony nominee, Emily Skinner, known for Side Show and Prince of Broadway, will be playing the role of Georgia Holt. Michael Campayno from Wicked fame will be taking up the role of Rob Camilletti and Mathew Hydzik from It Shoulda Been You, will be playing Gregg Allman.
Other members of the star-studded ensemble include Marija Abney, Taurean Everett, Ashley Blair, Michael Graceffa, Sam Lips, Amy Quanbeck, Dee Roscioli, Tory Trowbridge, Charlie Williams, Ryan Worsing and several others. The casting for the Broadway engagement at the Neil Simon Theater will be confirmed at a later date.
The musical will be directed by Jason Moore with choreography by Christopher Gattelli. Costumes for The Cher Show will be designed by Bob Mackie, who has had some of the most high profile clients over the years, including Cher herself.
The Story of Cher
Cher is one of the most iconic artists of the contemporary music scene. Having sold more than a 100 million records as a solo artist, Cher is more than what meets the eye. At 72 years old, she is still going strong, both in her music and in her acting career. She isn’t just a musician with big hits, she is a complete cultural phenomenon. Her fashion, style and presence are enough to make people turn and look. And that is what the musical will focus on – giving you the aura of Cher in her complete glory.
Cher first gained popularity as part of the folk-rock duo, Sonny & Cher, with her husband, after releasing the chart-topping song “I Got You Babe.” She eventually ventured into television and managed to get 30 million viewers for her show The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour. She continued her musical journey as a solo artist as well, with chart-toppers like “Tramps and Thieves,” “Dark Lady” and “Half-Breed.” She made her Broadway debut with Come Back to the Five and Dime, Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean.
