About Champions Cup Tennis

The event consists of a series of single-night tournaments which take place in different cities of the USA. Each tournament consists of three singles-matches, two semi-finals and one final. Four players, two in each semi-final, face each other. They play only one set of six games. The winning semi-finalists then face each other in the final which is played a few moments after the second semi-final ends. Again a single set is played between the finalists but this set comprises of eight games. The winner of Champions Cup Tennis tournament is declared the Champion and given hefty prize money. The whole tournament takes about 3 hours to complete. After a dozen of such tournaments, the performances of each player are rated. The top three players are then awarded bonus prize money. The series is sponsored by USTA, Tennis.com, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants Longines, Geico and ASG Software Solutions among others.

The combination of four players may change from tournament to tournament as there are more than four players involved in the series. This year’s Champions Cup Tennis series consists of John McEnroe, Andre Agassi, Jim Courier, Pete Sampras, Michael Chang, Mats Wilander and Bjorn Borg. All of them have formerly been ranked among the top five players in the world of their time. The players will be visiting 12 cities.
