About Metropolitan Opera La Boheme New York Tickets

The opera follows the story of four bohemians sharing a garret; Rodolfo, Marcello, Colline and Schaunard. One chance meeting sparks the romance between Rodolfo, a poet and Mimi, the embroiderer. They sing beautifully about the love they have found. Café Momus, where the friends meet, becomes the reason for reuniting Marcello with his muse Musetta. With a tragic twist, all the lovers and friends are tested. The opera magnificently highlights themes of innocence, love, guilt, friendship, jealousy and sacrifice.

Since its premier in 1896, the opera has been critically acclaimed worldwide. It is one of the longest continuously running opera in history. It has been adapted by the creativities of various directors over the years. It has garnered several Tony Awards and Olivier Awards.

Director Frank Zeffirelli stays true to the classic version of La Boheme. Being conducted by Riccardo Frizza, the opera captures the audience’s interest. The love-struck Rodolfo is sung by famous tenor Ramón Vargas. And the delicate Mimi is sung by Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu.
