Murphy's Law dictates that anything that can go wrong, given the chance, will go wrong. What if there was a play whose cast members seemed to be the unwitting victims of this very law? The Play That Goes Wrong has everything wrong with it: the cast members don't know their lines, the set seems to have a mind of its own, the plot is without substance, and infighting results in cast members being pushed off stage or knocked unconscious. In short, everything that can go wrong does go wrong in this production. However, there is a method behind this madness. If you're looking to have a good time with your friends and family, then get The Play That Goes Wrong tickets from here.

Slapstick at its Finest
Written by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer, and Henry Shields, The Play That Goes Wrong revolves around the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society and their production of the play The Murder at Haversham Manor. Similar to The Mousetrap, the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society gets into immediate trouble when the cast unwittingly knocks out one of their main actors. With a cast member unconscious, the remaining actors hilariously improvise, leading to further mishaps as the set begins to unravel, hitting actors and production members. The Play That Goes Wrong has all the elements of a Monty Python-meets-Buster Keaton comedy; it is fast-paced, funny, and surprisingly delightful.
From Star Wars to Broadway
With a net worth of over $120 million, it is safe to say that JJ Abrams is a Hollywood heavyweight. This writer, director, and producer is connected to billion-dollar movie franchises such as Mission Impossible, Star Wars, and Star Trek. Fresh off the incredible success of directing Star Wars: The Force Awakens, JJ Abrams stepped into the producer's shoes for The Play That Goes Wrong. His first attempt at producing a Broadway play, JJ Abrams was originally impressed with the cast and crew in London's West End. Taking up the reins as producer for the first time for a Broadway show, JJ Abrams called it the funniest show he had ever seen. The first time he saw the play, he was shooting The Force Awakens in London. After watching the play, he asked the producers what their plans were for the future. Before they could say New York, The Play That Goes Wrong had scored themselves a Hollywood producer
Sore Cheeks from Laughing
There are a couple of reasons why The Play That Goes Wrong is getting all the right attention. Firstly, it is the winner of the Whatsonstage.com Award in 2014, Olivier Awards in 2015, and Broadway World UK Award also in 2015. In addition to the accolades, The Play That Goes Wrong has also received positive reviews from the Sydney Morning Herald, Herald Sun, and The Age. The Daily Mail gave the play five stars for its energetically hilarious performance, and The Telegraph gave it four stars, calling it a great-looking, brilliantly-performed piece.
The Mischief Theater
The Play That Goes Wrong is currently playing at two venues: the Duchess Theatre in London and the Lyceum Theatre in New York. Tickets for both venues are available here. The Mischief Theatre Company was founded in 2008 by a group of students from the London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art. Some of its other productions include The Comedy about a Bank Robbery, Peter Pan Goes Wrong and Lights! Camera! Improvise! In addition to the talented actors on stage, The Play That Goes Wrong regularly features guest stars, such as Kylie Minogue, Josh Groban and Seth Rogen. It is these wonderful surprises, coupled with top-drawer slapstick comedy, that have made The Play That Goes Wrong an international sensation.
The Play That Goes Wrong is not a traditional comedy in the sense that the audience must understand the joke. It is purely visceral. To present the notion of chaos, the director and the actors must make sure every fall, trip and mishap is timed perfectly. In other words, The Play That Goes Wrong in reality is a paradox. For it to work, all the right pieces and performances must be perfectly organized to give the impression of chaos - an expertly organized chaotic presentation. You can book The Play That Goes Wrong tickets here and take your family and friends for a silly night out on the town.
