Finding Neverland Tickets

Finding Neverland, the musical, is based on the 2004 movie of the same name. It focuses on the real life events of the Scottish dramatist and author, J. M. Barrie, and his creation of the famous fictional character Peter Pan. The musical first premiered in 2012 at the Curve Theatre in Leicester. Two years later, it shifted to Cambridge, Massachusetts for a run at the American Repertory Theatre. Now it is ready to make its debut on Broadway, where it will be opening at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre.

The musical follows the story of J. M. Barrie, who as a writer cannot find the inspiration to write a new story. One day he randomly walks to Kensington Gardens, where he indulges his time and efforts in cheering up one of the boys playing there. That boy, Peter, turns out to be one of the sons of the widowed Sylvia Llewelyn Davies. Barrie enters into a platonic but close relationship with the widow as her boys enjoy spending time with the author. Their adventures, an inevitable divorce and Sylvia’s failing health concoct together to inspire Barrie’s Peter Pan character.

The book for the stage adaptation of Finding Neverland is penned down by John Graham. Diane Paulus provides the direction for the musical. She has been lauded for her work in Hair, Best of Both Worlds and Amaluna among others. Filling up Johnny Depp’s shoes for the role of J. M. Barrie is Glee actor Matthew Morrison. He has starred in numerous Broadway and Off-Broadway productions. His ventures in television and movies include notable titles such as Ghost Whisperer, Dan in Real Lifeand What to Expect When You’re Expecting. He has won a Screen Actors Guild Award while being nominated at the Tony’s, the Emmy’s and the Golden Globes.

The widowed Sylvia Llewelyn Davies is portrayed by Olivier Award winning actress Laura Michelle Kelly. She won widespread critical acclaim for playing the antagonist in the musical Mary Poppins. At London’s West End, she has appeared in productions such as Whistle Down the Wind, Les Misreables, My Fair Lady, Mamma Mia! and Beauty and the Beast.

Another huge name in Finding Neverland’s cast is Kelsey Grammer. He became an international sensation through the hit sitcoms Cheers and Frasier, where he played the psychiatrist, radio host Dr. Frasier Crane. His shelf is adorned by a number of Golden Globes, Emmy’s and Screen Actors Guild Awards. He is playing Charles Frohman in the musical.

Finding Neverland features numbers that have already become hits in the theatre and music world. The lyrics for the numbers are penned down by Eliot Kennedy who has worked with numerous established artists. His collaborations include S Club 7, Spice Girls, Bryan Adams and Gary Barlow among others. Barlow joined Kennedy on the creative team to provide the brilliant music For Finding Neverland. The front man of the renowned UK boy band Take That worked on musical numbers such as “Believe,” “We Own the Night (The Dinner Party),” “Hook,” “We’re All Made of Stars” and “Neverland” among others.
