34 years ago, in 1979 this touring dance troupe was created. It is the leading all-male dance striptease ensemble. The main focus of this ensemble was primarily to kick-start a business of performing live to basically female audiences. In November 2010, the previous fiancée of the US television series called The Bachelor, Vienna Girardi, was seen hosting a show called "Ultimate Girls Night Out" in which this dance troupe appeared and performed in some riveting acts. Karina Smirnoff from the esteemed show of Dancing With The Stars, held a show of the troupe. In February 2011, Ronnie Magro of the Jersey Shore held an even with the dance troupe as the headliners of the show. Jeff Timmons became a part of the ensemble the following summer to perform with the ensemble throughout its summer shows. Joey Lawrence performed for the group in an exclusive show that took place in June 2012 at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino.

In the 21st season of the television series of The Amazing race, James Davis and Jaymes Vaughan participated and competed in the show in which they wrapped up at the second place. Jaymes Vaughan is also a singer for the show that takes places in Las Vegas. He has effectively managed to release a solo song titled as "Vampire". While Davis is a bassist for the music band called My name Engraved. Other popular performers of Chippendales dance troupe include Jeff Timmons, Ian Ziering, Joey Lawrence, Mikey Cross and Jake Pavelka.

In popular culture the dance troupe has been featured a lot. In 1990, on a Saturday Night Live skit that had Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze as guests, the troupe was featured where the two legendary actors competed to become a dancer of the Chippendales. Then in 2000, the troupe was featured in a movie called The Chippendales Murder. This movie had been directed by Eric Boss. A year later in 2001, they were seen in the Hollywood movie called Just Can’t Get Enough.
