Red – Theatrical Production is a play that has been written by John Logan. The show was created in December of the year 2009 in London, United Kingdom. It had Donmar Warehouse as its producer at the time. The first production had Michael Grandage as its director. The cast of the original production included Eddie Redmayne in the role of Ken, who is Mark Rotkho's fictional assistant, and Alfred Molina in the role of Mark Rothko. The play went on to become a massive success, and gained great reviews from the fans as well as the critics.
After the success of Red, the show was moved to Broadway. It was aired on Broadway on the 11th of March, 2010 for a limited engagement at the John Golden Theater. It ended on the 27th of June of the same year. The play also achieved humungous success on Broadway, going on to win the award for the Best Play at the Tony Awards in the year 2010. Moreover, Eddie Redmayne was given the award for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Play at the Tony Awards the same year.
