Musical history

Wicked opened on Broadway at the Gershwin Theater, in October 2003. Amazingly till date it continues to be staged at the same venue. Wicked’s first national tour kicked off in 2005 with the first show in Toronto. The West End production opened its door for theatergoers in September 2005. Since then it continues to run at the Apollo Victoria Theater to this date. Wicked has won 11 Drama Desk Awards, in categories including “Outstanding Musical,” “Outstanding Set Design” and “Outstanding Book of a Musical.”
