The Assembled Parties is a spectacular play by Tony Award winning playwright Richard Greenberg, known for his work on The American Plan and Take Me Out. It is directed by Lynne Meadow, the artistic director of the Manhattan Theatre Club, the producers of the play. It features a cast that is home to Tony Award nominated actress Jessica Hecht, known for her work on Harvey and A View from the Bridge, Tony Award and two time Emmy Award winner Judith Light, known for her work on Lombardi and Other Desert Cities and Jeremy Shamos, a Tony Award nominated actor known for his work on Clybourne Park and Glengarry Glen Ross.
The Assembled Parties features a story that surrounds the Bascovs, a Jewish family that lives on the Upper West Side. It takes place in an apartment in Central Park West where Julie Bascov, a movie star, and Faye, her sister in law, bring together their families for a traditional dinner during the holidays. Leading the cast is Jessica Hecht, who plays the role of Julie. She has played many roles on many Broadway productions. In 2011, she received a Tony Award nomination for the Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Play for her role in Lombardi, a play by Academy Award winning playwright Eric Simpson. On TV, she rose to fame for her role in One Life to Live and then on Who’s the Boss? as Angela Bower.
She has played roles in Ugly Betty, for which she won an Emmy Award nomination, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as Judge Elizabeth Donnelly, Phenom, The Simple Life, The Stones and in more than fifteen movies, including The Ryan White Story. She has also played roles in The Shoemaker, Ira & Abby and Save Me. Jeremy Shamos plays the role of Jeff and he has received Tony Award, Lortel and Drama Desk Award nominations as well as won the Obie Award. He has played roles in Glengarry Glen Ross, next to Al Pacino and in Clybourne Park, a Pulitzer Prize winning play. He has also played roles in such Broadway productions as The Rivals, Elling, Reckless, Animals Out of Paper, Engaged, We Live Here, Corpus Christi, The New York Idea and many more.
