About San Francisco Ballet


San Francisco Ballet tickets (SFB) took tremendous initiatives and became ‘the first’ in many things. It gave the USA its first complete performance in the form of "Coppélia" in the year 1938. The choreography was done by Willam Christensen. SFB also set up a new record with its next production "Swan Lake" which took place in 1940. It was the first time that an American company had performed the said opera in its entirety. With its third production "Nutcracker" which was performed on the eve of Christmas, it started a trend of Christmas Eve performances. This was also the first whole production of Tchaikovsky’s famous work in the USA. In 1942, many independent companies of opera and ballet opened up under the aegis of San Francisco Ballet which included the SFB School and SFB Guild. The company started expanding and in 1957, SFB became the premier ballet company of the USA to tour eleven countries in Asia. In 2004, it performed "Sylvia" which was the first ever complete staging of Yuan Yuan Tan and Yuri Possokhov’s work.
