Los Angeles Clippers – The Beginnings
The Los Angeles Clippers joined the National Basketball Association in 1970, when they were known as the Buffalo Braves. They began to play from the 1970-1971 season and achieved their first winning campaign in 1973-1974, making it to the postseason that year. However, their postseason run ended in the conference semifinals, where they lost to the legendary Boston Celtics 4-2. They made it to the conference semifinals in each of the next two seasons as well.
The franchise was then relocated to San Diego and began playing as the San Diego Clippers from the 1978-1979 season. They spent six seasons in the city, but their performances left much to be desired. They did not qualify for the postseason even once and recorded only one winning season in San Diego.
The Move to Los Angeles
The Clippers made the move to Los Angeles after the conclusion of the 1983-1984 season. It took them a little while to get going in the City of Angels. Their first playoff appearance in LA came in the 1991-1992 season, but it wasn't until the second decade of the 2000s that the Los Angeles Clippers finally began to show consistency.
They qualified for the postseason in 2011-2012. In 2013 and 2014, the Los Angeles Clippers made it to the playoffs once again, this time as division champions, their first two major titles. Since then, they have missed out on the playoffs on only two occasions, in 2017-2018 and 2021-2022.
