Denver Nuggets: A Proud Tradition

The Denver Nuggets began their life as a professional basketball franchise in 1967, known as the Denver Larks. They were one of the original teams of the American Basketball Association (ABA). However, just before their first season began, they became known as the Denver Rockets. In 1974, they changed their name once more, and have been known as the Denver Nuggets ever since. In 1976, the Nuggets made it to their first ABA Finals, which were also the last before the ABA-NBA merger.

Time in NBA

After the creation of the new NBA, the Nuggets became a part of the league's Western Conference Midwest Division. Since 2004, they have been associated with the Northwest Division. The Pepsi Center is the Nuggets' current home arena, a place they share with the NHL's Colorado Avalanche.
