Beginnings
Tame Impala initially started off as a psychedelic rock band by Kevin Parker who is the mastermind behind the band. The band was called The Dee Dee Dums. The group bagged the second position at the AmpFest in 2005 and the third place in the state final of The Next Big Thing. The following year they won Western Australia’s State Final of the ‘National Campus Band Competition’ and the next year renamed themselves as Tame Impala, after changing the lineup.
Self-described as "a steady flowing psychedelic groove rock band that emphasizes dream-like melody", the group has earned itself a huge fan following along with a big name in the industry in a very short period of time. Not only have their songs gone on to become immensely popular hits but their live concerts have been gaining fame as well. - In 2009, Tame Impala won the Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Award for "Favorite Newcomer" & "Most Promising New Act ''.
- The same year, their EP won the WAMI Award for the "Most Popular Single/EP" and two years later they bagged 4 more WAMI Awards for "Most Popular Act", "Most Popular Live Act", "Best Rock Act" and the "Best Guitarist (Kevin Parker)".
- Currents won ARIA Awards for Best Rock Album and Album of the Year. The lead singer Parker bagged the APRA Award for Song of the Year 2016 for the album’s first single, "Let It Happen".
- The Slow Rush, won the band a whopping number of five trophies at the 2020 ARIA Music Awards.
- Both their first two albums were named "Album of the Year" by the Rolling Stone Magazine and won the J Awards for "Australian Album of the Year".
- The band’s 2012 single ‘Elephant’ was a stunning success, winning the EG Music Award for the "Best Song" while their 2013 single ‘Feels Like We Only Go Backwards’ was honored with the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) "Song of the Year" Award.
- Josh Terry of Vice dubbed Tame Impala his "Artist of the Decade" for the 2010s.

2021 Tour
Tame Impala Unveils “Phase 1 Rushium® Trials”Tour Dates
Tame Impala have announced rescheduled dates for their previously postponed tour (due to the Covid-19 pandemic). The trek is in support of their fourth album that came out in 2020. The tour has been dubbed Phase 1 of their Rushium Trials and commences September 4th at the Bonnaroo Festival in Manchester, Tennessee. The North American stretches till November, and ends with a final performance on November 9th at Dallas, Texas’ American Airlines Center. More dates and tour announcements will be made, along with the names of the support acts. For now it has been disclosed that Perfume Genius will be the opening act for the two-night stint at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.
