Bleachers Tickets for Sale
Growing up in the suburban New Jersey, Jack Antonoff didn’t leave his childhood home until he was 28. Living under the same roof as his parents and in his childhood bedroom, a serious relationship forced him to finally move out and settle in New York City. The indie pop singer started performing as Bleachers in 2014 and under the moniker has released two albums. His latest album “Gone Now” hit the shelves in June 2017 and it comes with a supporting North American tour. Fresh Bleachers tickets have been released for the new dates that the singer announced.
Jack Antonoff is also associated with the genre-bending pop band Fun, performing with them from 2008 till 2015. From 2002 till 2013, the New York City busking duo, Antonoff and Scott Irby-Ranniar performed as the Steel Train, a post-punk, folk ensemble. Through his distinctive, punk approach, Antonoff has produced music that’s innovative, new and exciting. In his own words, “The music industry is built on chasing that ambulance – ‘someone did it, let’s go that way.’ I don’t want to be a part of that. I want to be away from it.”
Early Life & Influences
It was neither a sound nor some person that influenced Jack Antonoff. He was in fact inspired by the 90s’ attitude towards music making – an era that was all for writing unapologetic anthems for the entire world. Following the mantra of Pearl Jam and Nirvana, Antonoff also believed in music that changed cultures. To him it didn’t matter if only 11 people heard his songs – as long as it’s brilliant and inspiring.
While working on Bleachers debut album with the producers Organized Noize, a powerful realization hit him: All the records that are on his favorite list tell a story. The artists are singing about where they were raised, their culture, their struggles – all rooted in a specific place. That’s when Jack Antonoff decided to bring back his beloved childhood bedroom into his workplace. He built his own studio in his New York apartment that was decorated with his Star Wars figurines, baseball trophies and all the posters he had as a kid. As absurd as it may sound, he even got his wallpaper designed to resemble the one he had in his childhood room!
Breakthrough & Recognition
Jack Antonoff found acclaim with, Fun and Steel Train. As part of Fun he produced the song “We Are Young” and it took home a Grammy Award in 2013. He is also known for his collaborations with other artists and his work as a producer on Taylor Swift’s “1989” earned him a Grammy Award for the “Album of the Year”. As Bleachers, he found popularity with the tracks “Rollercoaster” and “I Wanna Get Better”, both landing in the niche pop market. Featuring on his debut album “Strange Desire,” the songs treated the listeners to a modern nostalgia.
As a songwriter Jack is everywhere. He has worked as a producer and songwriter for many prominent musicians, and for him this is his hobby. From Lorde (Green Light), Sia (House on Fire) to Fifth Harmony (Dope), Taylor Swift (Out of the Woods) and Sara Bareilles (Brave), Jack Antonoff has worked with a diverse group of people.
Notable Work & Album Releases
As Bleachers, Jack Antonoff released “Strange Desire” in 2014 and it peaked at number two on the Billboard 200. Driven by a personal loss, the album detailed his struggle as an 18-year old after the death of his sister. That coupled with the 9/11 attacks in New York, set an overall emotional tone highlighting depression, anxiety and recovering from a big loss. “I Wanna Get Better” is a poignant number set against the backdrop of unforgettable beats. “Rollercoaster” is another hit song in which Antonoff appears to be reminiscing about a past love. Deep vocal melodies and dynamic changes in tempo make it an infectious track.
“Gone Now” was released in June 2017. And if it was only possible, the singer bares his soul even more, exposing his vulnerability and lots of emotions. The album cracked through the Billboard charts and produced hit tracks like “Don’t Take the Money” and “Goodmorning”. The conceptual 12-song album links together each track to tell a story and eventually comes full circle. According to AllMusic, “it makes for some of his most immersive and satisfying music yet.”
