Young Zak Filkins and Ryan Tedder met each other at the Colorado Springs Christian High School. Soon, they discovered their mutual music interests and decided to form a band called This Beautiful Mess. A few more instrumentalists joined this young band and within no time they were performing live at local bars, shops and music events. Right after the senior year, Tedder, Filkins & Co. disbanded in order to complete their studies. With the name, Republic, the high school duo, Tedder and Filkins decided to launch their second band in 2002. After some time, the line-up of the new and refined band was finalized with Tedder on vocals, Eddie Fisher on drums, Drew Brown and Filkins on guitar and Brent Kutzle on bass and cello.

Columbia Records immediately signed them after listening to their gig and the band of ardent musicians was renamed as OneRepublic.  Their music approach is admired by many fellow musicians and critics. Well-known internet publication, Allmusic has compared the sound of OneRepublic with that of Fray and Maroon 5's Adam Levine, stamping the band to be among the top voices of today. The lead vocalist has stated in an interview that, "we're no respecter of genre. If it’s a good song or a good artist, whether rock, pop, indie or hip hop, they've probably influenced us on some level." Still, OneRepublic cites U2 and The Beatles as their major influences. Many critics have also compared the band with Coldplay, which is definitely a huge compliment for OneRepublic.

With their debut release, Dreaming Out Loud, OneRepublic earned worldwide recognition in a blink of an eye. The record was certified Gold in Australia, Canada, Switzerland, New Zealand and Australia while Platinum in Germany and the US. The songs "Stop and Stare" and "Apologize" earned the band MTV Asia Award, a Teen Choice Award and a Premios 40 Principales for the Best International Hit (Apologize). A number of popular magazines and internet publications such as Sputnikmusic, About.com and Blogcritics wrote positive reviews about the album. Many songs from the album have featured in several movies and television shows such as The Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, Cold Case, Smallville, The Hills, The Last Song, Keinohrhasen and Ghost Whisperer.

The band’s second album, Waking Up was a blockbuster hit as well. It received a Gold certification in multiple countries. These include Germany, Austria and America. The track, "Good Life" appeared in a number of films such as One Day, Easy A and Eat Pray Love. Their latest album Native hit the shelves in 2013. According to the Rolling Stones Magazine, "Native is catchy with big melodies, inspirational lyrics, production that sits between pop and rock and dance." This album has shown the best sales frame. OneRepublic recently announced a massive North American Summer Tour. The band will headline the 16th annual Honda Civic Tour which will feature Fitz and The Tantrums and James Arthur as the opening acts. Kicking off on July 7 from the Kansas City, the highly anticipated trek is spurring OneRepublic tickets sales. The award-winning rock band released their fourth album “Oh My My” in 2016 and it produced hits like “Let’s Hurt Tonight” and “Kids”. The album peaked at number three position on the Billboard 200.
