Hailing from Mechanicsville, Virginia, Jason Mraz has been astonishing pop rock and indie music fans ever since he stepped in to the music industry almost a decade ago. Mraz is one of those few musicians who found success during the early years of the career, and went up to establish a fan following that crosses borders. Jason Mraz made his studio debut with his debut album titled Waiting for My Rocket to Come which was released back in 2002. The album garnered good reviews overall, and established itself as a commercial success. While the album peaked at the #55 spot on the Billboard Hot 200, it also spawned quite a few charting singles, including Remedy (I Won’t Worry) that became Mraz’s first single that charted on Billboard Hot 100 at the #15 spot. With his Good Vibes tour this summer and Live in Stereo tour in fall, the singer has a busy touring schedule. Although ‘Waiting for My Rocket’ turned some heads after its release, but it was Mraz’s second studio album, ‘Mr. A-Z,’ which really put the spot light on his work. Alongside the album, Mraz received massive amount of commercial success and exposure worldwide, upon the release of the album. The album was released in 2005, and it peaked at the #5 spot on the Billboard Hot 200 chart. Moreover, the album sold well over a hundred thousand copies in United States only.
After the release, Mraz decided to take his act live and toured extensively from thereon. However, prior to the release of Mr. A-Z, Mraz had opened for Tracy Chapman at the Royal Albert Hall in 2003 in London, as well as for Alanis Morissette in 2005 while she was on her Jagged Little Pill Acoustic Tour. Charting on Billboard 200 wasn’t the only feat that Mraz accomplished with his second studio release, in fact he also laid hands on his first ever Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album; and Steve Lillywhite, who produced the album also won a Grammy Award for the category of Producer of the Year. The album scored hit singles like Curbside Prophet and I’ll Do Anything.
Following the release of the album, Mraz went on an extensive Mr. A-Z tour which featured opening acts such as Tristan Prettyman, and Bushwalla. Meanwhile, Mraz also got a chance to open for the Rolling Stones while on their 2005-06 World Tour. The following year, Mraz got a chance to perform for the first time at a sold out concert in Singapore where he was accompanied with Toca Rivera at the Mosaic Music Festival. Mraz kept his touring spree going, and took his act all across the globe. Moreover he also headlined at the Fair St. Louis and at the concert on the Base of the Arch in 2006.
Jason Mraz’ third studio album surfaced back in May 13, 2008 and was entitled ‘We Sing.’ We Dance. We Steal Things’. The album came out to be Mraz’s highest charting album to date, as it managed to crawl up to the #3 spot on the Billboard Hot 200. Featuring the hit singles including I’m Yours, the album helped Mraz to break into many international music charts apart from being ranked at the third place in Australia and United States. Moreover, I’m Yours was also nominated for a Grammy Awards for the category of Best Male Pop Vocal and Song of the Year. Other than that, the album itself was nominated for the category of Best Engineered Album at the Grammys. Although Mraz didn’t have any luck with winning any Awards in 2009, he did win in 2010 though as two of his singles, Lucky and Make it Mine, helped up grab the Grammys for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.
