The celebrated music artist, David started his musical career in 1974. He became a part of a new wave group, Talking Heads, as their lead vocal and principal songwriter. The band was famous for fusing Americana, world music, funk, pop, art rock and punk to produce their new wave sound. Talking Heads continued producing music until 1991. The band released eight studio albums including ‘Naked’, ‘True Stories’, ‘Speaking Tongues’ and ‘Fear of Music’. Talking Heads is considered to be one of the eighty’s most critically acclaimed bands. They have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
After the group disbanded, David ventured into a highly successful solo career. American-born artist, St. Vincent noted for her music brilliance also managed to establish a strong music career. The multi-instrumentalist began her inspiring journey after joining the famous Dallas based band, The Polyphonic Spree. She remained with the choral group for a short stint, playing guitar for the band. She also accompanied the popular musician, Sufjan Stevens on tours.
In 2006, St. Vincent successfully formed her own band and has since then released three studio albums. Her debut album ‘Marry Me’ was released in 2007. The album was a moderate commercial success, but received high praises from critics. It scored four out of five stars by several magazines and industry veterans including Slant Magazine, Rockfeedback, Prefix Magazine and Allmusic.
Her second album, ‘Actor’ managed to break into several charts in the US and UK including US Rock Albums, US Alternative Albums and UK Album charts. It landed amongst Top 10 position on the Independent Albums chart and peaked at number ninety on the Billboard 200. In 2011, the artist released her third album, titled, ‘Strange Mercy’ that fetched significant critical success. The Observer gave the album five out of five stars. ‘Strange Mercy’ also charted high on several charts, peaking at number nineteen on the Billboard 200. St. Vincent has also collaborated with popular artists including Cage, Kid Cudi, Bon Iver, Death Cab for Cutie and Andrew Bird.
