L. Frank Baum’s novel ‘The Wizard of OZ’ surrounding the fantasy tale of little girl Dorothy Dale, some witches and the land of the Munchkins; became a huge hit when it was published in 1900. Its subsequent adaptations for theater and movies made it a cult classic and today, we have seen many versions of this story through different platforms. The first stage adaptation was made two years after the novel was published. This flashy Julian Mitchell presentation made it to Broadway in 1903 where it ran for almost 300 performances. However, the core remains the same and the fantasy part never ever overshadows human touches that have been given to most of the characters be it Dorothy or the Wicked Witch.
