The University of Georgia made it into the news a few years ago, after their management was deemed to have treated their athletics program unfairly. The outcry that followed proved the importance of the Bulldogs to the entire community and since that day, they have grown from strength to strength. The strength of a bull

The university’s first football team was assembled back in 1892 by chemistry teacher Dr. Charles Herty, who also set up their first competitive game against Mercer University. They won that game and since then they have been building on these early successes.

Within eight years after their creation they also managed to win their first major title, a conference championship in 1896 and it would be five more years before the name Bulldogs was associated with the college for the first time.   

The ferociousness of a dog

The Bulldogs football team has claimed two National titles to date, in 1942 and 1980. They have also been awarded four other national championships by various publications, and have additionally won fourteen conference championships and seven division titles.
