The Bulldogs have produced numerous star players over the years. These include Heisman Trophy winners Frank Sinwich (1942) and Herschel Walker (1982). Three Georgia players have gone on to win the coveted Super Bowl MVP award (Jake Scott, Terrell Davis and Hines Ward). 68 Georgia players have been selected as All-Americans, out of which 24 have been consensus All-Americans.

Based in Athens, Sanford Stadium has been the home of the Bulldogs since 1929. The Bulldogs have a pretty good home record at the Sanford Stadium; they have never posted a losing season record at the venue.
