The Brooklyn Nets play in the Atlantic Division of the NBA’s Eastern Conference. The franchise was founded in 1967 and was called the New Jersey Americans at that time. However, after a year, the team relocated to Long Island and consequently renamed itself as the New Jersey Nets.

Franchise History

The Nets tasted success during their early days in the ABA and won the national championship twice. In 1976, the Nets joined the NBA to begin a new era in their history. During their tenure in the NBA, the Nets have won four Division titles and two Conference titles. They reached the NBA finals in successive years (2002, 2003), but lost on both occasions to the Lakers and the Spurs respectively. Overall, the Nets have won two championships, two Conference titles and six Division titles.

2015-2016 Season

After five years in playoff wilderness, the Nets had a turn in fortunes in the 2012-2013 season. They managed to reach the post season and continued to make successive appearances for the next two seasons, including the 2015-2016 season.

The Nets finished the regular season with a 38-44 overall record and narrowly managed to qualify for the playoffs. They faced off against the Atlanta Hawks in the first round of the playoffs, but lost to them 4-2. This season the Nets will certainly want to improve on their showing from last season.
