An NBA team which plays in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference, the Nets was founded in 1967 and were the member of American Basketball Association (ABA). They were then called the New Jersey Americans. The next year, the team relocated to New York and was called the New York Nets. As members of the ABA, they won the ABA Championship twice. When ABA merged with NBA, the team became a member of the NBA and in 1977 was renamed the New Jersey Nets. In 2012, they were renamed the Brooklyn Nets. They play their home games at Barclays Center.
