The multi-purpose Barclays Center has served as the home court of the Brooklyn Nets since 2012. The arena’s other major tenants are the NHL’s New York Islanders who split their home games between this place and the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. The Brooklyn Nets came into being in 1967 as a charter team of the NBA’s then rival ABA (American Basketball Association). They became part of the NBA in 1976 when the two rival leagues merged. The Nets were one of the teams absorbed into the new NBA along with the Indiana Pacers, San Antonio Spurs and the Denver Nuggets.

During their illustrious history, the team has won 5 Division titles, 5 Conference crowns and 2 League Championships (in the old ABA).
