About Alan Doyle

When he was fifteen, Doyle joined his uncle’s band, “New Standells”. Music remained an important part of Doyle’s life even while attending St. John’s university. It was there he met John Benton and formed a duo called “Staggering Home”. After graduating, Alan spent a lot of time with the Celtic rock band, “Rankin Street”. Eventually he joined forces with them and formed the traditional Newfoundland and pop music group “Great Big Sea”. GBS’s record deal with Warner Canada gave them the opportunity to produce and release ten studio albums – many of which have been certified platinum.

Great Big Sea lives on through Alan Doyle

Thanks to Alan Doyle and the rest of the band members, GBS has won countless East Coast Music Awards, including Entertainer of the Year for five years from 1996-2000. They have also been nominated for several JUNO Awards for Group of the Year. However, despite all the support the band received from fans, Great Big Sea decided to part ways in 2012. The same year Alan Doyle launched his solo career with the release of his debut album “Boy on Bridge”. The album made it to the Top Canadian Albums and Top Heatseekers charts. Just this year (2015) Doyle released his second album, “So Let’s Go,” which he will promote on his North America fall tour.

There’s nothing stopping Alan

When Alan’s not recording his own music, he’s busy working with other singers. So far he has had the opportunity to collaborate with Hawksley Workman, Jim Cuddy, Sean Panting, Mike Post, Colin James and even Russell Crowe! Here’s an interesting fact: Alan Doyle and Russell Crowe have been friends for over a decade. Doyle’s not only produced Crowe’s album but also acted alongside him in the movie Robin Hood (2010). Alan has also taken part in other features like Shut Up and Play the Hits (2012) and Winter’s Tale (2014).

While Alan has had the chance to appear on the big screen, he’s also had to manage his music career. This year he’s been particularly busy headlining and performing at different music festivals. In July (2015), he performed for a huge audience at the Great Canadian Empire Rockfest – a three day event featuring several famous rock artists. Later this month (July) he will be headlining Canada’s rock series – Hagersville Rocks 2015 – with Tim Hicks. You do not want to miss an Alan Doyle performance. His years of experience as a performer will keep you entertained throughout his show. Hurry and purchase Alan Doyle tickets while you still can!

It’s time to Rock and Roll

It’s amazing how the Newfoundland singer has been able to pave his own path to success. Doyle continued to rock on even after Great Big Sea decided to retire from the music scene. From 2012-2015 Alan has been able to release and distribute two studio albums, produce an album for Russell Crowe and work alongside numerous artists. This is just the beginning for Alan Doyle’s solo career – the talented musician still has a long way to go. We look forward to seeing what he has in store for his fans in the future. You really don’t want to miss the chance to see him perform! Hurry and purchase Alan Doyle tickets to see him live in a city near you.
