About Los Angeles Philharmonic Czech Mates

The Los Angeles Philharmonic is a symphony orchestra based in Los Angeles, United States. It was founded in the year 1919 by William Andrews Clark, Jr. It had Walter Henry Rothwell as the first conductor who gave his first concert the same year, eleven days after his first trial. The first headquarter s of the orchestra was at Fifth and Olive, in a residence that was formerly known as Clune's Auditorium, but was later called Philharmonic Auditorium. From the years 1964 to 2003, the band played concerts at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion of the Los Angeles Music Center. In 2003, they moved to the Walt Disney Concert Hall designed by Frank Gehry. In summers, the orchestra plays outdoor concerts in the Hollywood Bowl.
Among consecutive managers of the orchestra were Artur Rodzinski (1929 - 33), Otto Klemperer (1933 - 39), Eduard van Beinum (1956 -59), Zubin Mehta (1962-1978), Carlo Maria Giulini (1978-1984) and André Previn (1985-1989). From 1992 to 2009, Esa-Pekka Salonen was the music director and principal. From 2009 the musical direction of the orchestra was under the baton of Venezuela Gustavo Dudamel. Since its starting in the year 1919, the LA Philharmonic has played at least an annual concert in its "sister city," Santa Barbara. The concerts have been presented by the Community Arts Music Association (CAMA).
The LA Philharmonic has played music in the pilot film of Battlestar Galactica (1978), composed by Stu Phillips and Glen A. Larson. Now this amazing orchestra is getting ready to give a tour filled with brilliant music in accompaniment with the Czech Mates. The conductor of the Czech Mates is Jakub Hrusa, who will be performing for the first time with the Los Angeles Philharmonic along with his band.
Jakub Hr usa is one of the most popular Czech conductors in the world. In 2004, he made his debut with the Symphony Orchestra. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, with whom he performed at the 10th Bohuslav Martinu Festival in Prague. In 2005, he conducted the Slovak Philharmonic in Bratislava and worked further with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano Giuseppe Verdi and the Orchestra di Roma e del Lazio. He also performed at the Prague Spring Festival together with the Czech Radio Symphony Orchestra.
In 2001, he staged the world premiere of Death and the Maiden. For the season 2008-2009 he studied Dvorak's Rusalka. Since the beginning of the 2005-2006 season, he worked as chief conductor of the Bohuslav Martinu Philharmonic Orchestra and as a permanent conductor of the Prague Philharmonia. He became assistant principal conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France Myung-Whun Chung.
In September 2006, Jakub Harusa first performed in front of the Japanese audience with the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra in Tokyo, followed by concerts with the Orchestre du Capitole in Toulouse, Orquesta Sinfonica de Galicia in Spain, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of La Monnaie in Brussels, Deutsche Sinfonie-Orchestra in Berlin, Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig, Birmingham, Cagliari, Budapest, Trondheim, Zagreb and Bratislava.
