Lotus the band is an electronic instrumental rock band which was formed in 1999 at the Goshen College in Indiana and at present is based in Philadelphia, PA and also in Denver, CO. The band played the funk/jam musical genre for nearly three years before they recruited Chuck Morris in 2001 in their band and shifted their focus to instrumental music. The band has taken a lot of inspiration from various electronic musicians. They have been greatly influenced by the band better known as The Orb.

About Lotus


The debut album of Lotus was called the Vibes. The album was a compilation of various live performances of the bands’ from their tour of 2001. They released the album in 2002. After the release of their debut album, the band signed a legal contract with Harmonized Records. From thereon, they released two studio albums and one live album during the period of 2003 to 2006. In 2004, the band released an album by the name of Nomad which was such a success that it instantly went to the top of the Home Grown Music Network charts. As the year ended, the album was one of the best selling albums of the Home Grown Music Network charts. The album was also given a nomination for the “New Groove of the Year” from the Jammy Awards. After the contract with the Harmonized Records ended, the band went on to sign a contract with the SCI Fidelity Records. With the SCI Fidelity Records, the band released the live double album by the name of Escaping Sargasso Sea. This album was also given a nomination for a Jammy Award by the Guitar Player magazine as the “Best Live Album of 2007”. Renowned music magazine Relix attributed the album to be “sexy and sophisticated dance music, mature enough to be played in the club or the living room”. After the release of Escaping Sargasso Sea, the band then released another album by the name of Copy/Paste/Repeat. This album was a compilation of the remixes of singles from the bands last two studio released albums. Like their previous albums, this album also received a lot of success and praise within the music industry.


Lotus the band, has gained much of their fame and popularity as well as a massive fan following by simple word of mouth. The band has toured extensively and recorded great live albums which are their claim to fame. The band is also well known for having played more than 115 live performances annually. The band is well known for its awesome live performances. They make the use of some extremely complex lighting set ups, they also create different background themes for each of their concerts and employ regular improvisations every time the band performs live.
