Taking on the persona of a somber clown, Mike Geier, aka Puddles Pity Party is a live performer, entertainer and singer. Mostly singing cover songs that fit well into his sad clown character, the Pity Party refers to the constant pressure that performers, especially clowns are in to make people laugh. Through his guise he’s giving the message that it’s alright to be sad and wallow from time to time. Crying it out is therapeutic and it lifts a whole lot of weight off your chest.

Another unique thing about Puddles is that he maintains silence off-stage. He doesn’t talk to media or give interviews, stating that the world is already noisy enough. Puddles Pity Party started performing in 1990 and after relocating to Atlanta, Georgia in 1995, appeared regularly in the vaudevillian cabarets. He has been a part of numerous tours including Eels “Wonderful, Glorious” 2013 US and European trek.

In 2013, during Halloween season, Puddles recorded his cover of Lorde’s “Royals” and it caused a collective frenzy among the fans. His fan following increased manifold and he was invited at popular music festivals. From Melbourne’s International Comedy Festival to Belgium’s Gent Festival, Puddles rocked the stage everywhere. His performance at the 2014 La Soiree Southbank show in London earned him an Olivier Award.

Neil Patrick Harris handpicked him for HBO Canada’s Just for Laughs’ “Circus Awesomeus” gala, in which he mesmerized the audience with his eclectic demeanor. Giving the fans what they want, Puddles often take in requests. His rendition of “Losing My Religion” appeared after thousands of direct requests on his email and Facebook account.
