NF: The Hip Hop Talent from Michigan

Nathan “Nate” John Feuerstein was born in Michigan on March 30, 1991. After his parents divorced, he was raised by his father. NF was into sports while at Gladwin High School and was on the school’s basketball team as well. NF graduated high school in 2009 and started his musical career a year later.

His first main exposure to music was through Connection Church in Canton, Michigan, which took him to the Fine Arts festival. NF’s debut studio album was Moments, which was released on November 29, 2010. It was released under his own name as he didn’t have a record contract yet. The album failed to impress and also did not make an appearance on any of the charts.

Not the one to be discouraged easily, NF went to work on his debut EP, which was released in 2014 as NF. It was Feuerstein first big commercial success, which charted at No.4 on the Top Gospel Albums chart. The EP was released by Capitol Christian Music Group along with Sparrow Records. This EP had 6 tracks and received 4 out of 5 stars from CCM Magazine. NF received favorable reviews for his debut EP from various critics with New Release Tuesday commenting: “What we have here is a raw rapper with a penchant for lyricism and, as an added bonus, he can sing his own hooks.”

Mansion

Mansion was NF’s debut studio album, which was released on March 31, 2015. This album was also released by Capitol Christian Music Group. The album had 12 tracks with Can You Hold Me, Paralyzed, Intro and Wait becoming extremely popular among NF fans. Mansion was an immensely successful album, which also topped the US Christian Albums chart. The album was successful otherwise too with many reviewing it favorably, giving it 5 out of 5 stars. Jesus Freak Hideout, Louder than the Music, CM Addict, and Christian Review Magazine gave Mansion 5 out of 5 stars. CCM Magazine was so impressed that it described NF as "an artist to watch, and brilliance is sure to follow this beautiful, sometimes dark, and vulnerable project."

Therapy Sessions

NF’s second studio album Therapy Sessions has been his biggest successful record so far. Released on April 22, 2016, the album charted at No.1 on the US Top Rap Albums chart as well as the US Christian Albums chart. This album, too, was released by the Capitol Christian Music Group. The critics were so impressed that NF was compared to big name rappers such as Eminem and others. He was also called one of the most underrated rappers as well as one of the best Christian hip hop artists in the country.

Therapy Sessions has 14 tracks with Therapy Sessions, Real, I Just Wanna Know and Intro 2 getting a lot of love from NF fans. Therapy Sessions also became the No.1 song on iTunes Rap chart for April, 2016. These songs also charted on the Hot Christian Songs.

NF hasn’t shown any sign of slowing down since his debut with his songs being featured on Showtime, VH1, ESPN, and Madden NFL 16, a video game.
