Korn is an American based nu metal band which is a sub genre of rock music. The band came into existence in the year 1993 and its original members were Reginald Arvizu, James Shaffer and David Silveria. After the band was formed they immediately started working on their first album under the supervision of Ross Robinson who is a well known music director. They released this album in the year 1994 under the banner of Immortal/Epic Records. The album proved to be a success and reached at number 72 on the Billboard top 200 in the very next year i.e. 1995 and also topped the Top Heatseekers charts. It was appreciated by both the critics and the audience as it introduced an altogether different and unique music which was not heard before. Their popularity grew so rapidly that the band started influencing other bands like Coal Chamber, Limp Bizkit and Slipknot.
After recording and releasing their first album Korn went on a tour with Biohazard. They had their first gig in Atlanta, Georgia. They went on another tour with Sick of It All in the year 1995. Touring did not stop his passion for recording music albums and singles. In the mean time he released four singles which included Blind in 1994 and Shoots and Ladders in the year 1995. Shoots and Ladders received a Grammy nomination of being the Best Metal Performance in year 1997. The success of their first album paved way for other ventures. Korn released their second album entitled Life Is Peachy in 1996. This album topped the charts as it secured third position on the Billboard 200, and won first position on the Recording Industry Association of New Zealand sales chart .It did a record business of selling 106,000 copies in the very first week.
All their albums and songs proved to be successful and it did not stop here. Whatever they produced was being received by the world of music with open arms. Korn’s first single No Place to Hide won a Grammy nomination for being the Best Metal Performance of the year. A.D.I.D.A.S. was another single that was appreciated and won them praise. After leading the Lollapalooza music festival held in the year 1997 with the help of Tool Korn won the appreciation of millions of people around them. Their popularity led them to the produce a TV show known as KornTV. The main attraction of this show was that the people could call and ask questions about the band in order to satisfy their curiosity about such a successful band.
In the year 1998 Korn released their third album titled Follow the Leader. This album included a number of vocalists including Tre Hardson from the Pharcyde, Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit, Ice Cube and actor Cheech Marin who was suppose to perform on the song Earache My Eye.
Korn has been one of the trend setting bands in history, serving music industry in more than one ways. Their fan base as well as devotion to entertain the audience with quality music ensures Korn Tickets sale to increase by leaps and bounds.
Korn's Latest Album - The Nothing
The Nothing is the title of Korn’s thirteenth studio album. Produced by Nick Raskulinecz, the record came out in 2019 and was an instant hit. Its title is inspired by a villain from the movie The NeverEnding Story. The Nothing is the first record after the deaths of the lead singer’s mother and his wife Deven Davis. The loss is reflected in the lyrical content of the collection, particularly in the song Finally Free. He has treated this album as a form of therapy to deal with his emotional breakdowns. The recording process of this project was also longer than usual. For other albums, Korn usually records in about two weeks but for The Nothing it took four long months.
The Nothing is a rather dark album. In fact, Jonathan Davis himself claims it to be one of the Korn’s most emotionally heavy albums. But while there are moments of heartbreak and anger on the album, the collection is also inspiring as it gives a message of determination and the strength to carry on despite going through the worst imaginable pain.
The Nothing debuted at the eighth spot on the US Billboard 200, becoming Korn’s fourteenth Top 10 record in the US. The track-list features a total of thirteen songs. These include Can You Hear Me, You’ll Never Find Me, The Seduction of Indulgence and Surrender to Failure.
Career Achievements
Over the course of their career in the music industry, Korn has sold over 35 million albums worldwide. Out of their total 41 singles, 28 have become charting hits. They have been honored with the prestigious Grammy twice out of the total eight nominations received. Besides, Korn has also won two MTV Video Music Awards.
