Fifth Harmony has won quite a few awards and nomination even though they have been active for a short time. They have won two Radio Disney Music Awards, along with a MTV VMA and a MTV Europe Music Award. When five individual girls came to audition for the X factor USA, the judges thought that something was missing. Yet they all brought something special to the competition that was too valuable to let go. Simon Cowell, the pioneer behind great musical bands, thought of grouping the five girls together in a band. The person credited with forming One Direction, proved his knack of identifying talent once again. Thus the five individual performers were brought together for the first time in the boot camp of X Factor.

They started with the band name ‘LYLAS’ which stands for Love You Like A Sister. They had to change the name because of the similarity with the existing band ‘The Lylas’. The decision to select the name of the band was put to an online vote. The fans decided the group to be named the Fifth Harmony.

The band’s compelling performances got them enough votes to make it to the Top 12 of X Factor. They moved to the semifinals and had a stellar performance in store for the special occasion. Fifth Harmony performed "Anything Could Happen" by Ellie Gouldling and showed their potential to the world. The judges, L.A Reid and Britney Spears heaped praises on the band and termed their performance as ‘magic’. This was enough to qualify to the finals of the competition and end in the Top 3. Although they missed out on moving to the Top 2, the talent of the young band was undeniable.

Backed by the X Factor bronze, the band posted covers of songs on YouTube. Many of the songs were flooded by views. The original artists of songs, such as Ariana Grande and Ed Sheeran also publicly commended the band’s efforts. Fifth Harmony came up with their EP ‘Better Together’ towards the end of 2013. It was the first release the band came up with after X Factor. It went up the charts and peaked at the sixth position on the Billboard Hot 200.

The band has managed to merge together well; utizling Lauren’ smoky voice, Normai’s bluesy vocals, Dinah’s dynamic range, and Ally’s energy Fifth Harmony has become more than just pretty faces singing together. They have become a music band with each singer complementing the rest. Perhaps the most diverse singer in their ranks is the Cuban born, Camila. Even though she didn’t have much experience of singing publicly before joining the band, her raw voice make her one of the standout performers. Before Fifth Harmony headlined a tour, they were selected to be the opening performers for Cher’s, I Wish Tour in 2013. The band also toured with Disney Star, Demi Lovato when she embarked on her Neon Lights tour in 2014. The same year, Fifth Harmony was also the opening act for Austin Mahone’s Live On Tour, where he performed in North America.

With the band’s music striking a chord with many pop music lovers, in the start of 2014 they announced that they had begun working on their debut studio album. The album titled, “Reflections”, was scheduled to be released in December 2014, but was later set to release in January 2015 since the band felt it wasn’t quite ready. The album is preceded by the single “Bo$$” which reached the top fifty on the Billboard Hot 100 and sold  seventy five thousand records in the first week. Fifth Harmony, in the meantime, confirmed their fourth headlining tour with performances scheduled in the US and Puerto Rico.

This amazing girl band has taken over the music world in a very short time and now has fans all across the world. They released their first album in 2015 titled “Reflection” and will be heading out on their “Reflection Summer Tour” to promote it. The summer leg of the road trip has been going on since May and their next upcoming show will be on the June 14, 2015 in West Hollywood.
