During this time, the members started recording another album The Life Pursuit, which became the highest charting release by Belle and Sebastian. The album peaked at number eight in UK and number sixty five on the US Billboard 200. The preceding song "Funny Little Frog" was the highest charting song of the group, debuting at number thirteen.

The hard work and struggles of the members proved fruitful and Belle and Sebastian received ‘Best Newcomer Award’. The ensemble performed for 30,000 people in 2010 in UK during the Latitude Festival. The band played its two new songs "I'm Not Living in the Real World" and "I Didn't See It Coming". In February of 2013, a one hour documentary was released by Pitchfork TV about the band’s 1996 record "If You're Feeling Sinister". The documentary features interviews of each member and also many videos as well as archival photos from the early days of the group.
