Shelah’s friends and family are planning a surprise birthday for her, when during the festivities something unwanted and undesired reveals itself – a dark family secret from the past which becomes apparent through a series of spontaneous events. Shelah, the protagonist is then left confused and bewildered to discover something like this and questions the possibility of finding faith, a stronger footing, alongside a real sense of and belief in God. Head of Passes has been developed by the Steppenwolf Theatre Company through the efforts of its New Plays Initiative that is supported by Harold & Mimi Steinberg Charitable Trust, John S. & James L.
