The Fray was formed back in 2002, and after struggling for almost two years, the group finally landed a record deal with Epic Records on December 17, 2004. The album also became a commercial success after selling 179,000 units in its first week of sales. In 2009, The Fray also collaborated with Timbaland for his album Shock Value II. The group was featured on one of the songs from the album titled Underlow. The band also released the Christmas EP on December 22, 2009 which was released as free to download material over the internet. After working with the producer Brendan O’Brien, the group came up with their third studio release, Scars and Stories. The album was released on February 7, 2012 and Heartbeat was released as the lead single for the album. Heartbeat was then followed by the release of the second single titled Run for Your Life.
Over the years, the group has crossed over from conventional piano rock to pop rock genre. But nonetheless, their fan following still keeps on growing. In addition to that, the group has also received numerous nominations and awards. In 2010, their second album was nominated for the Grammy Award for the Best Pop Vocal Album, and their song Never Say Never was also nominated for the Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.
