The first half of this music extravaganza is Styx. The band was formed in 1961, when the brothers John and Chuck Panozzo (drummer and guitarist respectively) joined their neighbor, Dennis De Young (vocalist), to form a band and named it The Tradewinds. The group began as a progressive rock band, but with time it became the pioneer of the virtual arena rock music. The grandiloquent ballads and power rocker performances earned the band quick fame. During this time, the group changed its name twice, once in the early seventies, as TW4, when James Young and John Curulewski joined the band as guitarists, and then for the final time as Styx, which remains till day.
To date, the Styx band has released fifteen albums, in addition to eight live ones. The talented ensemble also holds the record of releasing consecutive certified multi-platinum albums from 1977 to 1981. Currently, the group is made up of James Young, Chuck Panozzo, Todd Sucherman, Tommy Shaw, Ricky Philips and Lawrence Gowan. Each of the members has his very own strength which includes vocals, instruments and compositions. Together, this sextet produces hits with art rock music and concept themes. Renowned for giving their audiences a thrilling time in their live concerts, now this band is coming your way. Hurry to get your tickets and watch the incredible Styx members perform live on stage.
The other band to perform at the upcoming event is going to be Foreigner. Like Style, this band also made it to the list of few bands from the seventies era to have successfully survived the eighties as well. Even today, the band’s compositions remain irreplaceable for the fans of power rock music. Foreigner came into formation in 1976, and was named so because it consisted of both American and English musicians. Foreigner is one of the best selling rock music bands of all times, with record sales of more than 37.5 albums only in the United Sates, and almost eighty million albums across the world.
Currently, Foreigner is an ensemble of seven talented musicians, namely Mick Jones, Jeff Pilson, Michael Bluestein, Bruce Watson, Thom Gimbel, Kelly Hansen and Chris Frazier. Jones, along with a former member of the band, Lou Gramm, is also an inductee of the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Now the group has joined hands with Styx to rock the country. On their current tour, even the former Eagle’s guitarist, Don Felder will be joining for live performances.
The upcoming performance of Foreigner and Styx at the Farm Bureau Live is the talk of the town already. Previously called as the Virginia Beach Amphitheatre, the venue is a perfect place for hard rock music concerts. The venue has a seating capacity of 20,000. Serving as an ideal place for concerts since 1996, the amphitheatre is one of the most preferred places of the fans of live concerts. In order to attend the upcoming rock concert, all that you need to do is to buy your Styx & Foreigner tickets before the stock runs out.
