What is more thrilling than watching a rock band perform live? Known to be the masters at the art of live performances, rock bands, with their heavy sounding music have gained an immense following over the years. Rock music has become so big that it is a part of the pop culture of almost every country. German rock just like rock in any other part of the world is also known for its heavy metal, industrial and punk rock music. It was in the late 70’s and 80’s that rock music started gaining weight in Germany. One of the pioneers of German rock is the heavy metal/hard rock band, Scorpions. Already standing on VH1’s list of the Greatest Hard Rock Artists on number 46, the band worldwide has sold records of over 150 million. Launched way back in 1965, by the rhythm guitarist of the band, Rudolf Schenker, the band comprises of the members namely James Kottak on drums and percussions, Mathhias Jabs on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Pawel Maciwoda on bass and of course the founder Rudolf Schenker on lead and rhythm guitar. Scorpions has been making the greatest sounding music for over 45 years now. When you look back in time as to where they began you will know that it takes a lot to be where they are. With as long a history, the Scorpions still took some seven years to come out with their first album in 1972 but since then things have been rolling for them so fast that 45 years passed and they still are regarded as the rock superstars. They are not just legends in rock music but it looks as if they are a small world themselves and a world that is looked up to by many.

“Lonsome Crow”, was the band’s debut album that led them to their first tour and also saw them making their first international collaboration. It was in their first tour that they got together with the band UFO, a British upcoming band back then. “Lonsome Crow” though was largely regarded as an effort of the band to find their DNA, the style of the Scorpions; did manage to get them the exposure that every new band wants, so much so that "Das Kalte Paradies”, a German movie, used the Scorpion’s debut album as its soundtrack. With the debut album giving them a fair amount of recognition, it wasn’t until the release of “Fly to Rainbow”, the Scorpion’s 1974 album release that the band raised to fame. Scorpions very successfully established the style of the band with their second album especially songs like “Speedy’s Coming”. The band became better and bigger with every new album release. Scorpions are like an adventure that gets bigger with time. The well known rock anthem by Scorpions was another small brick into their huge triumph. The song has its significance because it was owing to this song that the band got to be on number 18 on the list of VH1’s Greatest Rock Songs of the world.
The band over the years has performed endless concerts and tours coupled with its numerous album releases. But it was in the year 2007 that the band got a huge opportunity, an opportunity of a lifetime for them to perform at a concert in front of Valadmir Putin, the President of Russia. This surely was a big boost to their music career because if a band gets to perform not just in front of a crowd in a stadium but for a President, it means that they have reached the highest peak of success. Having released 22 albums and undertaken around as much tours, the band has recently released its latest album, “Sting in the Tail” and with it they have announced their retirement but before they do retire the band will go on its last tour supporting the latest album release. As it is said, who come with a bang cannot go without a bang and this is the farewell bang by the Scorpions.
Bid farewell to the legendary rock stars, the Scorpions, on their final tour, “Get Your Sting and Blackout World Tour”. The tour that started early in 2010 will go on till 2013, so you are still not late in getting hold of the tickets to Scorpions. Get your tickets now and don’t miss the chance to say “Good Bye”.
